Compared to the SD-103XX, the Studio D'Artisan SD-101XX boasts a more vintage and traditional regular straight fit. Similar to the SD-103XX, however, denim enthusiasts will rejoice in the fact that SDA opted to also use the same for the SD-101XX as their 1986 debut model, the SD-D01. The denim hand dipped 24 times in a vat of natural indigo to achieve the distinct, deep indigo blue. The jean is then accented lemon yellow top stitching, subtle orange threads, and a dual selvedge line.

Studio D'Artisan was one of the earliest Japanese denim brands and they began their career making reproduction Levi's in the early 80s. A lawsuit quickly put a stop to that, and SDA took its place as one of the premier heritage denim labels in Japan.
But their penchant for the past doesn't mean they're slaves to reproduction as they've released dozens of playful one off models including their famous "Christmas Denim" they've redesigned and reissued for over thirty years.
